Our Practices
We choose to grow organically. Why do we farm this way? Because we want to produce healthy food for our family and yours! We want to feel confident that we are producing the highest quality food possible and in turn stewarding the land we farm. We want you to feel confident in us, your farmers! We want you to feel confident in how your food was raised, and trust that our family wants the best for your family.
We choose to certify organic. Without certification, labels like raised organically, free range, pasture raised, grass fed and regenerative practices can be interpreted in many ways by the grower and consumer. Our certifier requires certified organic inputs and seeds; and requires us to use organic, regenerative and conservation practices as part of our annual certification. Organic terms have specific definitions within the certification process. Certification provides consumers with a standard for organic growing. We love conversations about organic farming, so please ask if you are curious.
We are constantly furthering our regenerative farming efforts to benefit our land, soil, animals and plants. We use silage tarps and stale seed beds to reduce weed pressure, compost to renew our soil, and drip irrigation to minimize water usage and loss. We use only organic seed and inputs to our soil. Our farm implements are designed to minimize soil structure damage as we plant new crop each year. We purposely have multiple species grazing on fields, and rotate the animals through fields to improve our soil structure, which in turn greatly increases the plants' ability to take in nutrients. As we add beef to our herbivores, these practices will produce nutrient dense food for our customers.
